Walls
The easiest way to add walls to your house is
to select the panels you added to the sides of the
foundation, copy them, and move the copies straight up.
Don't forget to move the walls back one click when you first copy them, otherwise
they won't line up with the edge of the floor. You need to move the
fresh panels up exactly 8 clicks. When you're done, you should have something like
this:
What we have now is basically a stone box. Let's change the walls to a different
texture -- all that stone in the same place is a bit boring. Select each wall, and
replace the "9" in its name with a "1" instead. Once you've changed the first wall,
you speed up the changes to the other walls by copying and
pasting the right object name. Select the white wall, then highlite the name with
the mouse, and press Control+C to copy the text. Then select one of the stone walls,
highlite the name, and press Control+V to paste in the new name. When you have a whole
bunch of objects that you want to transform into a particular other object, copying
and pasting the object name like this is a lot faster than typing everything in by
hand for each object. When you're done, you should have something that looks like this:
So now you have walls. But wait . . . there's no door, and no windows! We'd better
add some. Select the white wall facing the street, and replace "pp01m" with "pd01"
instead. There should now be a door midway between the two walls, like this:
There's room for more than just a door here, and we don't need those big gaps to either
side of it. Select the doorframe and move it four clicks to the right. Then copy it and
move the copy 8 clicks to the left, so that you have two doors side by side. There's no
need for two doors, though. Select the left-hand door and change the object name from
"pd01" to "pw01." Voila, you have a door and a window:
Hey, this is shaping up pretty well. There are still some things left to add,
though. As far as I know, it's never rained in Alphaworld. Still, better safe
than sorry. Let's put on a roof.
